Using the real-world data for making decisions regarding the safety of medical technologies

On September 24, 2020, a conference was held: "RWD / RWE: An Important Tool for Decision Making in Health Care". The relevance of collecting real-world data (RWD) and their analysis (RWE) was demonstrated, and the need to amend the current legislation in order to use RWD / RWE in the Russian healthcare system was discussed. RWD is a modern request of the healthcare system, interest in which has grown significantly over the past years in most of the countries of Europe and the USA.

The RWD / RWE topic is currently of great importance, as it helps to solve the problems of practical health care in terms of the effectiveness, safety and availability of health technologies. Thus, by influencing health policy, the RWD / RWE concept protects the public interest. 24 reports were consecrated at the conference. Leading experts in the field of clinical research, health technology assessment, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoeconomics, practical health care, experts working with medical data, representatives of public and patient organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry took part.
