Unsafe medication practices and drug use errors are among the leading causes of preventable harm to patients in healthcare settings around the world.

Given this fact, as well as the theme of the World Patient Safety Day in 2022 - "Safe use of drugs" - the main goals of the event are:

Raising awareness among the professional community of the significant burden of harm resulting from drug errors and unsafe drug practices and calling for coordinated action to improve the safety of drug therapy in the Russian Federation.
Involvement of key stakeholders in activities to prevent drug errors and reduce harm associated with the use of drugs.
Improving approaches to improving the safety of the use of drugs.
