The Association of Health Technology Assessment Professionals, Association of Russian Clinical Pharmacologists, ISPOR Russia St Petersburg Chapter co-organized the II annual scientific-practical conference “RWD/RWE – Tools for Real Clinical Practice Research: Today and Tomorrow” on September 16, 2021. The conference brought together experts from academia, government, pharmaceutical industry, regulatory, and clinical trials from Russia and other countries to discuss about RWD/RWE. ISPOR Chief Science Officer Dr Richard Willke was invited to give a presentation on ISPOR’s RWE transparency initiative and related efforts. More than 300 people participated in this event.

During the conference, the attendees discussed the RWD/RWE practical experience from healthcare professionals and scientific organizations and leading experts from clinical research, healthcare and high-tech organizations shared their insights and answered the most pressing questions, which are of concern to the medical community in the development of RWD/RWE in Russia. The conference also announced the establishment of the first RWD/RWE scientific journal in Russian “Real-World Data & Evidence” (https://www.myrwd.ru/jour ) that Professor Alexey Kolbin serves as Chief Editor.

The conference highlighted the main issues and challenges limiting the development of RWD/RWE into decision making, health technology assessment, clinical trials, and regulatory, and adopted a resolution containing the glossary of RWD/RWE in Russian. The resolution includes the detailed list of steps which are recommended for implementation in order to facilitate the set-up of RDW/RWE in Russia. The full text of the resolution is available here.
